Common Pregnancy Signs

Common Pregnancy Signs

Early pregnancy is detected with some symptoms and changes in a woman’s physical appearance. These signs are common to pregnant women. Let us read more on some of the most common signs of pregnancy.

Pregnancy is the stage a mother goes through of carrying the baby inside her womb. A normal pregnancy lasts for nine months before giving birth. During this period the embryo will gradually develop and become a fetus when it reached two months. The baby further develops until it is finally ready to come out of the womb.

Pregnancy is a result of sexual intercourse between a male and female. This development stage is called fertilization. Nowadays, artificial insemination is also now possible due to medical development, which means that a female need not to have a sexual intercourse to get pregnant. Instead, the semen could be artificially injected to a woman to fertilize her egg.

Women experience different signs and symptoms when pregnant. Though it may vary from one woman to another, some basic signs and symptoms to look out for are discussed below.

Menstruation Delay
The most common sign is when a woman misses her period. Some experience irregularities in their menstruation. But in some cases, some will not miss their period especially at the early stage of pregnancy.

Menstruation occurs when an egg released in the ovary is not fertilized. It is shed out as menstruation every month. If an egg is fertilized with sperm, menstruation stops for the meantime while the fetus is developing. Women will normally stop menstruating for nine months if pregnant.

Bleeding
This normally happens when the embryo plants itself through the uterine wall, and spotting and cramping is experienced. It usually occurs between six to twelve days right after conception. Do not mistake it for menstruation. Consult your doctor to verify, especially if you are suspecting pregnancy already.

Morning Sickness
Morning sickness or nausea is one of the most popular symptoms of being pregnant. This symptom normally occurs two or one month following conception. Some women may even experience vomiting. Morning sickness does not only occur in the morning but can also happen at noon or night time. In some cases, this symptom will not occur to others while some women may experience morning sickness the whole period that they are pregnant.

Swollen Breasts
Sometimes pregnant women’s breast becomes swollen or soft. The breast also becomes sensitive and a change with its appearance will be noticeable. This symptom usually happens around one to two weeks of pregnancy.

Sensitive to Taste and Odor
This is one of the symptoms which most pregnant women experience during the early stage of pregnancy. Pregnant women become easily irritated with smells or even with their favorite food. Thus, it is very common for the pregnant to crave for certain foods.

Repeated Urination
Usually at after six weeks of pregnancy, pregnant women will experience frequent urination. This is due to the increase of fluid and blood of the body. This excess in fluid will go through the bladder which causes repeated urination. Normally, the urination will take place every 10 minutes interval. As the baby becomes bigger, so as the amount of fluid in the body and urination becomes more frequent.

Craving for Food
This symptom is one of the oldest symptoms. Pregnant women will crave for food and sometimes rare food. Some women will only crave for food once but others will experience food craving longer.

Bloating of the Abdomen
During early pregnancy, the hormones of the body become very active which causes a feeling of a bloated abdomen. The feeling is the same as when the period begins.

If you are expecting your pregnancy and experience any of these signs, the best thing to do is to have a home pregnancy test or visit your physician as soon as possible. Sometimes home pregnancy tests are unreliable so it is best to undergo pregnancy test with professional doctors. This is very important so as to have early precautions and be prepared for your pregnancy.

It is better to be aware that you are indeed pregnant so as to have proper care and nutrition. Also, once you are aware that you are pregnant, you will be more cautious with your lifestyle.

Are You Pregnant? Pregnancy Signs & Symptoms

Are You Pregnant? Pregnancy Signs & Symptoms

Pregnancy comes with many signs and symptoms. For many women they will only experience a small proportion, while for others they won’t experience any at all. Although signs and symptoms can give you a good indication that you are pregnant, most women know deep down inside them that something has changed and this change can be enough for them to know. Of course though to be completely sure you should take a pregnancy test or see your Doctor.

For some mothers, pregnancy symptoms can begin immediately after conception. Usually signs will start popping up when your baby implants after ovulation. When your baby implants it causes an increase in progesterone levels. This can cause a temperature rise and if it remains high for 15 or more days after ovulation then it can be a very early sign of pregnancy. Some women may experience a temperature drop at implantation instead. Some women also experience implantation bleeding and this can be brown, red or pink in color. Further more some women experience slight cramping.

Using a pregnancy test will, in most cases, give you a strong indication of pregnancy. A pregnancy test measures the pregnancy hormone hCG in your urine. Some tests are super sensitive and can tell you if you are pregnant as little as four days after your period is due. Most tests you have to wait 10 days after your period is due. In some cases the test maybe negative but you are in fact pregnancy. If you have tested yourself early on, wait until 14 days after ovulation and test again and it is much more accurate. If you feel the test is wrong seeing your Doctor is a good idea. They can give you a blood serum test which is much more accurate and sensitive as they can detect very low levels of hCG.

Other symptoms of pregnancy include a missed period (which is the first symptom women notice), frequent urination, morning sickness, breast changes, cravings, body changes, and fatigue and smell/food aversions.

Despite a missed period, many women experience breast tenderness early on and this can be one of the first indications of pregnancy. Breast tenderness can also be a sign of an impending period, but breast tenderness in relation to pregnancy is more intense. You will find that your breasts are much more tender and there will be a clear indication compared to tenderness from an impending period.

Many women find that they frequently need to urinate. This symptom is very common and is also a problem for women in the third trimester when baby is pressing down on their bladder.

Morning sickness of course is another symptom – one many women dread! It can start as early as 2 to 4 weeks after conception but many women experience is around the 9th or 10th week. Despite being called morning sickness, many women experience sickness and various different times of the day and it can be different each day or every week. Typically it will be worse during the first trimester and ease off in the second and third, however for some sickness can be bad throughout.

Food and smell aversions can also be fairly common. Some women find that smells they were ok with can suddenly cause them to feel nauseous or even be sick. Cravings are also experienced in about 85% of women.

Fatigue can also be a symptom and many women feel completely wiped out from their normal routines. This usually is overcome after the first trimester, but rest is important.

Lastly it is worth acknowledging intuition. Many women just know that they are pregnant or that something is different. It is hard to explain exactly what this feels like but it is something that is very real and that can be experienced before or after symptoms are apparent.

Despite the symptoms described here there are many less common symptoms. If you feel you are pregnant take a test or go to the Doctors and get it confirmed.

What is best to confirm the pregnancy ?

What is best to confirm the pregnancy ?

There is no one answer as to when to take a pregnancy test . Again, this is dependent on the particular brand of pregnancy test you purchase. Some tests state they are able to detect pregnancy as early as six days after ovulation but the most accurate tests are those that detect pregnancy about 14 days after ovulation. For most women, this falls mid-way through their ovulation cycle. Even if your menstrual cycle is very regular, it is safest to wait at least a week after your period was last due before taking a pregnancy test. This ensures the most accuracy.Today, there are a lot of home pregnancy kits available over the counter at any drug store. All that you need to do is to purchase one of them and then conduct the test at home itself. You can perform this test on yourself – you do not need any special qualifications for this. You collect a sample of urine and then analyze it using the instructions mentioned on the leaflet that comes with the home pregnancy kit. These simple at-home tests are reasonably priced, are easy to use and also are over 97% accurate. Of course, it is desirable to reconfirm the same by repeating the test some 2-3 days later, so that you can be doubly sure about the results. The best thing about a home pregnancy test kit is that you can perform it in complete privacy, without anyone having to know about it.

Meditation is a wonderful stress buster. You are likely to need something like meditation because of the raging hormones inside you. Apart from other bodily changes, they also bring on mood swings and irritability. Therefore, try meditation during the very early days, when you first notice the early signs of pregnancy. If you are able to do it even for a limited time, go ahead and make it a routine throughout your pregnancy. It will most likely make those nine months extremely smooth for you. Get a good book on meditation for guidance or browse the net for more information. At the first stage of pregnancy, when you are unsure about the positive signs of pregnancy, a free online pregnancy test will guide you. Even before you disclose the pregnancy symptoms to anybody, find out what your chances are through online pregnancy test. Before you start discussing with your peers and start rejoicing, it is better to assess your chances of getting pregnant first. Though this is not a confirmatory pregnancy test, but no doubt, this free online pregnancy test is a good pregnancy probability test. Simply and accurately feed the answers to the questions and then just click on the submit button. As per information you feed on your last period and other points, you will get to know what your possibilities of pregnancy are. Input date of your last period, online pregnancy tests will calculate a possible date for your delivery.Other signs and symptoms of early pregnancy include those caused by the many hormonal changes your body may be undergoing. These include breaking out in spots, feeling an extreme case of nausea, being regularly exhausted, and changes to the cervical mucus discharge that is different from what you experience on a monthly basis. By tracking these changes to your cervical mucus, on a chart such as the one you can find on BabyPartner.com, you may be easily able to pinpoint when changes occur and answer the question “am I pregnant?”

Despite the above-mentioned probabilities, a home pregnancy test is the best indicator that can help prepare for the 40 weeks of week-by-week pregnancy that wait ahead. It could be inaccurate at times, but the latest variants introduced in market are quite sensitive and hence reflect the true status of whether you are pregnant or not. A visit to the doctor should put to rest all speculation.

Molar pregnancy

Molar pregnancy

Disorders of the female reproductive system are relatively common. Some disorders are self-limited and cause only minor inconvenience to the woman. Other cases are life threatening and require immediate attention and long-term therapy. The complication that can happen after the evacuation is that if all of the tissue is not removed it can begin to grow again. This tissue can also metastasize like cancer and grow in other areas like the lungs, brain and vagina. The recommended action is that you do not attempt to have another pregnancy for the next twelve months following the molar pregnancy. If the molar begins to grow again the pregnancy related hormone will start to rise. A uterus that is abnormally large for the length of the pregnancy can be detected physically or when you go for test. It not so easy for people that have not taken an ultrasound as they might think they are having twins. First, is bleeding due to implantation in the uterus. As the embryo is attached to the walls of uterus at about 6 to 7 days after fertilization, bleeding is secreted from the vagina. The fertilized egg by itself is attached to the uterus wall, so slight spotting results from this process of implantation. HCG levels in early pregnancy can be detected approximately 11 days after conception by a blood test, and about 12-14 days after conception by a home pregnancy test, or urine test. In general, the HCG levels in early pregnancy should double every 48 hours in early pregnancy to indicate a viable pregnancy. This rate will increase to every 96 hours after a few weeks. Most miscarriages cannot be prevented because this is the body’s way of stopping an unhealthy or abnormal pregnancy. Molar pregnancy is the presence and growth of an abnormal tissue instead of an embryo; on the other hand, an ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy wherein implantation occurs in the fallopian tube instead of the uterus. Women often experience some nausea in the early stages of pregnancy. In most cases the symptoms are mild transient and easily managed by dietary modifications. In some cases however, the symptoms may be severe. Relentless vomiting can last the entire pregnancy and be associated with dehydration and weight loss. The quantitative blood test or the beta hCG test measures the exact amount of hCG in the blood. It can pick up very small amounts of hCG, thereby making this the best pregnancy test. If this test is repeated in 2-3 days and the beta hCG values are observed to have at least doubled, then this confirms that the pregnancy is continuing.

Interactive Pregnancy Calendar

Interactive Pregnancy Calendar

The presence of early pregnancy symptoms is an indication that your spouse needs to undergo a pregnancy test. If positive, it means your spouse is on her way to give birth to your baby.

However, pregnancy-divided into three trimesters-remains a mysterious period for most women. And as for the men, most expectant dads go through these months without a slightest clue as to what is expected of them. Here is a pregnancy calendar to prepare you on what to expect from your spouse and how best to help her.

Pregnancy Calendar: First Trimester

What your spouse will experience:

The sudden hormonal rush during this phase may lead to a host of uncomfortable symptoms and sensations for your spouse. Nausea (commonly referred to as morning sickness) and an aversion for certain foods items may become apparent. Weakness or fatigue is another common symptom at this stage.

What you can do:

As the full import of the pregnancy starts to sink in, you can discuss the baby with your spouse. You could also accompany her during her visits to the obstetrician. Make use of this relatively relaxed period by spending quality time together, at home and outside.

Pregnancy Calendar: Second Trimester

What your spouse will experience:

The initial distressing symptoms such as nausea will now subside. However, your spouse’s belly will continue to expand throughout this stage. This will restrict her movements considerably. Bleeding from the nose and gums, heartburn, indigestion, and the appearance of varicose veins or hemorrhoids are the other symptoms that she will have to bear with.

What you can do:

Her pregnancy will increasingly impede your spouse’s capacity to live a normal life. You can help by taking over at least some of her domestic duties. This is also a good time to help her plan her pregnancy in detail.

Pregnancy Calendar: Third Trimester

What your spouse will experience: The developing baby will make further demands on your spouse’s body: her weight will continue to increase and may lead to back and hip pain. Swellings on the ankles and face may also be present. Besides, even mild exertion during this period may leave her gasping for breath.

What you can do: In this final stage of pregnancy, your spouse may become increasingly housebound. Try to find ways to make her feel comfortable and keep her spirits high-an occasional gentle massage will be highly appreciated. This is also the time to finalize arrangements for the birth of your baby.

You Could be Pregnant If

You may not even want to think about it. You may even have hopes that it’s all one big nightmare, and that when you wake up, it will be over. Chances are, the signs are there, but the willingness to face the reality is not. Yes, you may be pregnant.

If you have been intimate with someone and have engaged in unprotected intercourse, you could really be pregnant. Before you make any assumptions, take a look at yourself and decide if you have cause to strongly believe that you could be expecting a child.

1. Did you miss a period? You know about when to expect your menstrual cycle. If it’s been a little while, then it could be the first sign that you are possibly pregnant. If you have irregular menstrual cycles, then, this sign could be a little tricky for you to detect. You may need to just go for it, and take a pregnancy test.

2. Are your breasts sore, tender and/or swollen? They may actually hurt like crazy with only a light touch. If you are pregnant, that soreness could be due to an increase in hormones as your body starts preparing for a baby.

3. Feeling hot all of the time? It could feel like you just can’t get cooled off, and it may not even be summer! If you keep track of it, check to see if this hot feeling or elevated body temperature keeps going on for more than about 2 weeks. If so, you may be pregnant.

4. Is your stomach puffy? You know how your stomach feels right before your period. You may have that bloated feeling now. This bloating may even cause your clothes to start feeling tighter than usual. It could be a hormonal change causing this if you are pregnant.

5. Do you constantly have to pee? You may have to keep going to the bathroom, between classes, after lunch, while waiting for the bus…just all of the time. If you are pregnant, your body will start to produce more blood and fluids. The extra fluids dump into your bladder and that’s what may be making you go, what feels like, every minute of the day.

6. Does everything around you stink or smell very, very strong?  You may be extremely sensitive to smell, even to the point where the smell makes you feel sick. An increase in estrogen, yet another hormone in the female body, could be causing this if you are, in fact, expecting.

7. Got a nasty “taste” in your mouth or, even worse, do you gag or throw up at just the thought of certain foods? Your favorite food could even be one of the culprits that is making you nauseous and causing you to vomit. Known to most as morning sickness.  This feeling or gag reflex can happen at any time of day, unfortunately mostly early on in your pregnancy.

8. Are you dog tired, even after you get tons of sleep? You may be dragging and feel like you haven’t slept in ages. That fatigue could be due to an increase in the hormone progesterone in your body if you are expecting.

9. Have you had very light, pinkish or reddish-brown bleeding or discharge coming out? This may last only a day or two, and it is usually noticed about a week or so after you missed your period.

10. Have you taken a pregnancy test? If not, you should. If you are experiencing some or most of these signs, you could be pregnant.
